Valve has announced a new OLED version of the popular Steam Deck portable gaming PC, set to debut on November 16. The upcoming Steam Deck OLED model will boast an improved OLED screen, which is a bit larger than the original's LCD, enhanced audio, quality-of-life changes, and a significantly better battery life predicted to be 30-50% longer than the original version. Pre-orders will be available soon and it comes in two storage sizes: 512GB and 1TB, priced at $549 and $649, respectively.

In light of this release, Valve is planning to discontinue the 64GB and 512GB LCD models and has also announced a price reduction for the remaining LCD models. Despite the upgrades, the Steam Deck OLED will not see performance improvements and the resolution remains the same, although the refresh rate is increased to 90Hz. It includes a Wi-Fi 6E module for improved online performance.

Valve is also introducing a limited edition model with a unique translucent design, which will cost $679 and only be available in the US and Canada. The company has noted the possibility of future color variants but has not committed to any plans yet.

While the Steam Deck OLED brings seemly upgrades to the portable gaming experience, Valve has clarified that this is not the next-generation Steam Deck 2, which isn't expected until at least 2025. The new device aims to improve upon issues such as heat management and will be lighter than its predecessor.
