Xbox's Palworld patch fixes bugs, misses some

Jan 23, 2024 11:56 AM

Palworld, a game often described as 'Pokémon with guns,' received an update on Xbox and Windows PC to remedy some technical issues. The game, launched on Steam as well as Xbox and Windows PC, faced problems like a black screen on start-up, unrecognized controllers, and incorrect key guide display. The update, however, doesn't address the lack of dedicated servers or crossplay between Xbox and Steam, despite Pocketpair's efforts and player demand.

The early access title has been a hit since its January 19 release, but not without controversies, including death threats against Pocketpair staff and accusations of being a 'Pokémon rip-off.' Palworld has seen server strain due to its popularity, and while the game's crossplay functionality is limited, Pocketpair is attempting negotiations to improve the multiplayer experience.

What recent updates have been made to Palworld on Xbox and Windows PC?

The recent updates to Palworld on Xbox and Windows PC fixed issues such as a black screen upon starting the game, unresponsive controllers, incorrect key guide display, and the absence of an exit game button. However, they did not address the lack of dedicated servers or crossplay with the Steam version of the game.

Background Info on Palworld:nPalworld, developed by Pocketpair, is an open-world survival game combining creature capturing and training with crafting, building, and combat elements, akin to the famous Pokémon series but with a unique twist—firearms. Marketed with the unique angle of "Pokémon with guns," it promises a blend of familiar monster-taming gameplay with more mature survival mechanics. Palworld's emergence as a viral hit is partly due to its provocative concept, but it has also raised eyebrows among the gaming community, leading to intense scrutiny and discussion about its originality and content.

Good to see the devs at Pocketpair are quick to iron out those pesky technical issues on Palworld – nothing breaks immersion like a black screen of purgatorial frustration. Still, they gotta level up their game with the dedicated servers and crossplay if they want to keep the multiplayer crowd from rage-quitting.

Glad to see Pocketpair rolling out some quick fixes for Palworld's launch hiccups on Xbox and PC, though it's a bummer that players are still waiting on dedicated servers and crossplay—those features can really make or break the multiplayer experience these days. Despite the controversy, it's pretty impressive how Palworld is stirring the pot and generating buzz; it's a bold move to merge cute critter-catching with a gritty survival twist.
