Alan Wake 2, set to release soon, is poised to bring "significant" free downloadable content according to Creative Director Sam Lake, who announced the news at the British gaming fair EGX. The free DLC packages planned are purported to be significant, with more details to be revealed shortly after the game's release, all of it to be freely available to those who purchased the game.
Previously this year, Remedy indicated that they were developing both free and paid DLC, including two paid expansions. These expansions, called Night Springs and Lake House, have not yet had much revealed regarding their content.
In Alan Wake 2, players can control the title character, a writer, and FBI agent, Saga Anderson, who investigates mysterious murders in Bright Falls that leads her onto Wake's trail. Wake disappeared 13 years ago, and players can switch between these characters offering various perspective options. The first Alan Wake, released in 2010, follows the titular writer as he searches for his missing wife in the town of Bright Falls, while appearing to slowly lose his sanity.
Other notable Remedy games include Control and Quantum Break. Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 27, ten days later than initially planned, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC platforms. Epic Games is the game's publisher, and as of now, there are no plans for a physical release of the game.n
