As of September 30th, the PlayStation 5 has shipped 46.6 million units worldwide according to Sony's latest quarterly financial results. This includes 4.9 million consoles shipped within the reported quarter, marking an increase of 1.6 million compared to the same time last year.

Additionally, over five million copies of "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" have been shipped, with 2.5 million sold in the first 24 hours after its October 20th release on PlayStation 5.

Sony also announced that the PlayStation Network has reached 107 million active users, up by five million from the previous year. A recent system update for the PlayStation 5, version 23.02-08.20.02, has been released with the intention of improving system performance, though no further details were provided.

Later this month, Sony plans to release two new PlayStation 5 models to replace current ones. One of these new models will be smaller and include a detachable disk drive, while the other will come without a disk drive, which will be available for purchase separately.
