PRINCE OF PERSIA DELAYED Rogue release pushed back

May 10, 2024 12:40 PM

The Rogue Prince of Persia, the upcoming roguelite metroidvania game from the creators of Dead Cells set in the universe of Prince of Persia, has had its release date delayed. Developer Evil Empire has postponed the Early Access launch originally scheduled for May 14 to a later date within the same month. The decision was influenced by the overwhelming popularity of Hades 2, which has captured the attention of both players and developers, boasting over a hundred thousand concurrent players shortly after its Early Access release. Evil Empire is confident in The Rogue Prince of Persia's potential but acknowledges the rare instance where a game in the same genre, and one of the most anticipated games of 2024, launched just a week before their own title. More details on the new release date are expected to be announced the following Monday.

Why was The Rogue Prince of Persia's release delayed?

The release was delayed due to the significant attention and success Hades 2 has garnered, leading the developers at Evil Empire to choose a later release date for The Rogue Prince of Persia.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is not just a new entry into the roguelite genre, but it also revisits the storied Prince of Persia franchise, which has captivated gamers since its original release in 1989. With a legacy including several titles and even a film adaptation, the Prince of Persia series is known for its blending of platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat, often within intricately designed levels invoking the tales of the Arabian Nights. This upcoming game is expected to breathe new life into the franchise by introducing a roguelite twist to the classic gameplay mechanics.

Well, it seems like the folks at Evil Empire made the right call in delaying The Rogue Prince of Persia's release. Hades 2 has been causing quite a stir in the gaming world, and it makes sense for them to give their game some breathing room. Plus, any chance to revisit the Prince of Persia universe with a fresh, roguelite twist is something I'm looking forward to.

Ah, bummer about The Rogue Prince of Persia's delay, but it makes sense considering the buzz around Hades 2. The blend of roguelite gameplay in the iconic Prince of Persia universe sounds promising, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up against the competition.

It's interesting how the success of Hades 2 has had a ripple effect on other games in the same genre, causing the delay of The Rogue Prince of Persia's release. It's a testament to the impact and influence of standout titles within the gaming community.
