Nintendo’s Legal Team Pressures Discord Over Pokémon Teraleak

This legal move comes after Discord shared a request from Nintendo aimed at subpoenaing the platform for information about the user GameFreakOUT, who allegedly distributed confidential Game Freak documents that included unreleased development details and information on cancelled Pokémon projects. The Teraleak, which occurred in October 2024, raised concerns for Nintendo as it reported unauthorized access to its servers. In past instances, Nintendo has similarly sought legal recourse against individuals leaking sensitive content related to its games.

The Teraleak refers to the unauthorized release of confidential gameplay and development information from Pokémon games, particularly from the developer Game Freak. This major leak included unseen development details, beta versions, and information on projects that had not been announced, causing a significant stir within the Pokémon community.
