Nintendo set for summer Direct tomorrow – no Switch 2

Jun 17, 2024 2:06 PM

Nintendo has confirmed the date and time for their summer Direct, set for June 18, at 7am PT/10am ET/3pm BST. With Not-E3 coming to a close, this 40-minute presentation will focus on games scheduled for the latter half of 2024. Notably, Nintendo has emphasized that the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will not be featured during this Direct. Viewers can stream the event on Nintendo's YouTube or Twitch channels. While the specific lineup remains undisclosed, there are hints that titles like Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition might be showcased. Speculations about first-party surprises and potential ports, like Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, continue, though Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A updates seem unlikely to appear.

What can viewers expect to see at the Nintendo summer Direct?

Viewers can anticipate a mixture of third-party game announcements and potential first-party surprises. While Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition are likely candidates, the absence of the Nintendo Switch 2 suggests heavy speculation on current and upcoming Switch titles, possibly including surprise reveals or long-rumored ports.

Nintendo Directs are a highly anticipated series of online presentations by Nintendo, designed to share updates on upcoming games and consoles. Historically, these events have been pivotal for major game announcements and exclusive first looks, making them essential viewing for Nintendo fans. Although rumors of a Switch successor have been rampant, Nintendo’s consistent communication strategy ensures that they maintain control over the narrative and hype surrounding their releases.
