The upcoming game 'Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth' to feature popular Voice Actor Matt Mercer

Voice actor Matt Mercer, renowned for his work in Critical Role among others, has been revealed as the voice of character Vincent Valentine in the highly anticipated Square Enix's game - Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

The announcement was made at the New York Comic Con, and later officially confirmed via a tweet from the official Final Fantasy Twitter account. Mercer has an impressive list of video game characters under his belt, including Ganondorf from 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom'.

A fun twist occurred when the Square Enix team pranked Mercer, having him initially record lines for a minor character in the game, only to reveal later that he was chosen for the role of Vincent. This indeed was a dream come true for Mercer, as he expressed his excitement at being part of a game that had had a significant impact on him.

Unlike the original game, Vincent will not be a playable character in the sequel, assuming the role of an "accompanying character" akin to Red XIII's role in 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake'. Fans of the original may remember Vincent's monster transformation and expert handgun abilities in battle.

As the release of 'Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth' nears, more insider updates and story-related revelations are surfacing - including potential backstory elements for Sephiroth taken from the mobile game 'Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis' and new story content centered around the character, Zack.

Be sure to continue tuning in for more updates on 'Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth', set to release on February 29.
