Is Final Fantasy 14 Going Mobile with Tencent's Help

Jul 07, 2024 10:12 AM

You might soon be able to dive into the beloved MMO, Final Fantasy 14, right from your mobile device. A recent report suggests that Square Enix and tech giant Tencent are collaborating to bring this popular game to mobile platforms. Previously available on PC, PlayStation, and more recently Xbox, the potential mobile port is a step in the company’s multiplatform strategy. Back in 2018, Square Enix and Tencent penned a strategic alliance, hinting at future projects, which may now include this mobile adaptation. Given the game's success and the popularity of mobile MMOs globally, this move could significantly expand its player base. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy 14's latest expansion, Dawntrail, has recently launched, although it's experienced some issues on Xbox, which are being addressed by Square Enix.

Will Final Fantasy 14 be available on mobile devices soon?

According to reports, Square Enix and Tencent are working together to produce a mobile version of Final Fantasy 14, but there are no specifics on the release date or project progress at this time.

Final Fantasy 14, originally launched in 2010, has evolved into one of the most acclaimed MMOs, especially after its reboot as Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn in 2013. The game has received multiple expansions, including the award-winning Heavensward, and continues to captivate players with its engaging storylines and multiplayer experiences. With the potential mobile adaptation, Square Enix aims to broaden its accessibility and tap into the growing mobile gaming market.
