GTA 6 development fully safeguarded from possible strike

Nov 09, 2023 9:07 AM

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, has assured stakeholders that the potential strike by the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) will not affect the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. During an investor call, CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the company is 'fully protected' against any potential disruptions that could arise from such a strike.

The possibility of a strike follows a favorable vote by the majority of SAG-AFTRA's members, potentially leading to actors affiliated with the union ceasing their voice acting roles in video games until agreements are reached between the union and game companies. However, a strike has not been confirmed as negotiations are expected to continue with optimism for a mutual agreement.

Additionally, it's been revealed that Rockstar Games is set to release a trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 in early December, though an exact release date for the trailer has not been provided. Take-Two also reassured that the development of the next Grand Theft Auto is well underway during their presentation of financial results.

This information comes in the context of other industry actions, including strikes by Hollywood actors and writers which are separate from those of the gaming industry. Take-Two's confidence suggests a positive outlook for the continued work on one of the most anticipated games in recent years.
