Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX's CEO, never had a cameo in the game Cyberpunk 2077, despite a widespread belief among fans of the game, according to CD Projekt Red developer Patrick K. Mills. This comes as a refutation of a fan theory proposing that Musk is featured in the corporation-focused beginning of the game.

This clarification came after a user comment on a new character model introduced in Update 2.0 of the game caused misunderstanding. The belief that Musk appeared in the game stems from the involvement of his former girlfriend Grimes, who voiced a character in Cyberpunk 2077. During a recording session with CD Projekt Red, Musk reportedly proposed his own cameo. However, the game developer has declined to provide any further details on the matter.

On another note, the game's Update 2.0 has caused a wave of renewed interest on Steam, even before the release of its first expansion, Phantom Liberty, which just launched on September 26. The innovative features introduced in the update include an enhanced AI and a new perk system. Phantom Liberty's considerable contribution to the improvement of Cyberpunk 2077 was even acknowledged by IGN in their 9/10 review of the DLC.
