Cyberpunk 2077 developer, CD Projekt Red, made it clear that despite the game being exclusively first-person, it has no regrets about this decision. Contributing to its unique identity, the format stirred significant interest on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, according to the quest director, Pawe? Sasko. Debates are on about whether to include third-person perspectives in Cyberpunk 2 (code-named Orion) or stick with the first-person style.

CD Projekt Red is yet to finalize their plans around perspectives in Orion. Sasko notes how Cyberpunk 2077's first-person view helped distinguish the game from the popular third-person Witcher series and ultimately shaped the game's identity. However, final decisions for Orion are still in flux.

The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is likely to be a few years away yet as the focus is currently on the next Witcher game named Polaris due for release possibly in 2025, and Orion's development is in its early stages. Also, Orion is all set to be built at CD Projekt Red's new North American studios, which are under construction.

The Polish developers had a busy Investor Day, announcing a Cyberpunk live-action project, recording sales of over 25 million units for Cyberpunk 2077, and breaking the news about the departure of CEO Adam Kici?ski. Orion's development has officially started, and it's currently at the "conceptual design level", stated CD Projekt Red's chief creative officer, Adam Badowski.
