Jul 03, 2024 11:55 AM

EA is set to delist "Battlefield 3," "Battlefield 4," and "Battlefield: Hardline" from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 digital stores starting July 31, 2024. This move precedes the shutdown of servers for these games on these platforms on November 7, 2024. Players will still have access to single-player content, but multiplayer modes and DLC will no longer be available. The PC versions and the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the respective titles will remain unaffected. "Battlefield 3" is often regarded as a standout entry, celebrated for its exceptional multiplayer experience. "Battlefield 4" was the series' first title on PS4 and Xbox One, whereas "Battlefield: Hardline" featured a unique cops and robbers theme.

Why is EA delisting Battlefield games on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3?n

EA is delisting these Battlefield games to prepare for the shutdown of their multiplayer servers on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This will end the availability of online multiplayer modes and downloadable content, although single-player content will still be accessible for those who already own the games.

The "Battlefield" series is a popular franchise developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, known for its large-scale battles and emphasis on multiplayer gameplay. "Battlefield 3," released in 2011, set a new standard for the series, while "Battlefield 4," launched in 2013, took advantage of the new hardware capabilities of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. "Battlefield: Hardline," released in 2015, diverged from the military focus of its predecessors by incorporating urban combat themes.
