Halo Infinite's developer, 343 Industries, recently elaborated on a hike in microtransaction prices due to community backlash. The price increase was implemented when multi-core functionality was added to customization content. Despite users welcoming the multi-core functionality, 343 also escalated the price of older content, leading to disappointment among the game's community. 343 explained the adjustments were made to maintain consistency across items and prepare for future multi-core enabled items.
However, players expressed dissatisfaction with this logic, arguing that digital items usable on a broader range of cores should not cost more. Some were critical of the notion that the introduction of cross-core compatibility should increase prices, seeing it as a justification for monetizing fundamental features and penalizing the player base.
Despite these objections, Halo Infinite experienced a moderate resurgence, with interest and sentiment around the game improving this year after initially declining post-launch due to dissatisfaction with the game's progression systems, monetization, and absence of certain modes.
