Apr 29, 2025 10:19 AM

The latest news on The Witcher 4 reveals uncertainty surrounding the return of Yennefer's voice artist, Denise Gough, who has not confirmed her involvement in the upcoming game. CD Projekt is heavily invested in The Witcher 4, with over 400 employees working on its development since ramping up in November 2024. Although the game is set for a 2027 release, key details have emerged, such as Ciri taking the lead as the main protagonist and Geralt making an appearance, still voiced by Doug Cockle. Game director Sebastian Kalemba hinted at Geralt's presence, but his role in gameplay remains uncertain as teasing begins about the narrative direction.

Will Yennefer return in The Witcher 4?

As of now, Denise Gough, the voice behind Yennefer, has stated she does not know if she will reprise her role for The Witcher 4.

The Witcher franchise has gained immense popularity not only through its successful video games but also via Netflix’s adaptation, which has significantly boosted the lore's presence in mainstream media. The franchise has a rich narrative driven by complex characters and morally ambiguous choices, making anticipation for the fourth installment particularly high among fans. The transition from Geralt to featuring Ciri as the protagonist marks an exciting new chapter in the series, promising fresh storytelling opportunities while maintaining established fan-favorite characters.

Ciri taking the lead has me hyped, but Geralt's cameo better involve at least one iconic hmm or I'm rioting. Also, CD Projekt throwing 400 devs at this My GPU's already sweating in anticipation. Kinda wild we're getting next-gen Witcher before GTA 6 - though with that many hands on deck, maybe we'll finally get a game where Roach doesn't parkour on rooftops. Here's hoping Yennefer's voice situation gets sorted, her sass was half the fun.

Switching to Ciri as the lead is a bold move that could really freshen up the series, though I'll miss Geralt's grumpy charm front and center. Fingers crossed Denise Gough returns as Yennefer—her voice work added so much depth to such an iconic character 400 devs working on Witcher 4 No wonder my backlog keeps growing while I wait for this masterpiece. Here's hoping the transition to Ciri feels as natural as looting every crate in White Orchard.
