WOOTING 80HE Founders' Launches Campaign NOW

Mar 24, 2024 6:34 PM

Wooting has announced the launch of their Wooting 80HE Founders’ campaign, with the keyboard set to release in August 2024. The Wooting 80HE is a tenkeyless (TKL) keyboard designed for competitive gamers and keyboard enthusiasts that offers several innovative features. Among these are analog input technology, customizable actuation points, rapid trigger technology, and what Wooting claims to be a true 8000Hz polling rate, which reduces input lag to a mere 0.125ms.

New to the 80HE is the 'Rappy Snappy' technology, which allows the keyboard to detect and prioritize simultaneous key presses based on depth, benefiting reaction time in fast-paced games. The keyboard construction utilizes a silicone gasket between the PCBA and switchplate, providing a softer typing experience with less noise. Screw-in stabilizers also help in reducing key rattle. The keyboard's PCR plastic switchplate is specifically designed to enhance the acoustic 'thock' sound favored by many keyboard enthusiasts. Within the first 24 hours of the campaign, nearly 11,000 people have signed up as founders. The Wooting 80HE is available in various configurations, including a full pre-built model in PCR Plastic at the price of 219.99 euros, a Zinc alloy pre-built version at 319.99 euros, and a module option for 174.99 euros.

What are the benefits of a 8000Hz polling rate in gaming keyboards?

A higher polling rate such as 8000Hz means that the keyboard is sending input data to the computer at a faster rate (every 0.125 milliseconds). This results in quicker response times and reduced input lag, which can provide competitive gamers with a slight edge in fast-paced games by making their inputs register more rapidly.

Background information: Wooting is known for trying to push the boundaries of keyboard technology, particularly with the goal of achieving a more responsive and customizable experience for gamers. Their previous products, such as the Wooting one and Wooting two, have been well-received in the gaming community due to their unique analog input features, allowing keys to detect varying levels of pressure, reminiscent of a controller joystick. The launch of the Wooting 80HE Founder's campaign is a continuation of their commitment to innovation in the gaming peripheral market.
