Valve ends support for Counter-Strike 2 on Mac and older PCs
Oct 12, 2023 5:01 PMNews has broken out that Valve, the game developer, is discontinuing support for Counter-Strike 2 on Mac systems and older PCs. Counter-Strike 2, a recent release, was introduced as an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This update represents the largest technical leap in Counter-Strike's history, and Valve intends to support the game for many more years. However, to keep advancing with technology, they've decided to stop supporting older hardware, such as systems operating on DirectX 9 and 31-bit, and MacOS.
According to Valve, only less than 1% of all players will be affected by this decision. For those who cannot play the game on their current hardware, they can play a 'legacy edition' of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. However, support for this version ends on January 1, 2024, although the game can still be played after this date.
In addition, players who have paid for the Prime Status upgrade and can no longer play due to this decision, have until December 1 of this year to ask for a refund. Despite the changes, Counter-Strike's massive player base and its continuous updates secure its legacy as a popular and enduring game among online players.
