Sep 05, 2024 10:22 AM

Undead Labs has announced that they are ceasing content updates for State of Decay 2 as they shift their focus towards the development of State of Decay 3. After nearly six years of updates since its launch in 2018, the final update for State of Decay 2, Update 38, will be released later this year. This update is expected to address existing issues, improve quality of life, and unlock previously restricted content. Although State of Decay 2 will no longer receive new content, it will remain available for players and continue to be included in the Xbox Game Pass lineup. The development team is committed to creating an outstanding sequel that enhances the zombie survival experience with support from other major studios.

What new features can we expect in State of Decay 3?

State of Decay 3 aims to introduce a more flexible online co-op experience through a shared world feature developed in collaboration with Obsidian, which is expected to enhance gameplay significantly. Additionally, the game will utilize Unreal Engine 5, promising advanced graphics and improved performance.

State of Decay is a beloved zombie survival franchise that first launched in 2013. State of Decay 2 expanded on its predecessor's foundation, offering better gameplay mechanics, multiplayer co-op options, and a richer environment for survival strategy. The anticipation for State of Decay 3 is high due to its promise of innovative features and improvements, marking a significant evolution for the franchise.
