In an update from the creator of the popular game Deltarune, Toby Fox, it has been confirmed that the game will be released once the development of Chapter 4 is complete. More than two years after the release of Chapter 2, the progress on the final three chapters has been slower than expected. Despite Chapter 3 being close to completion and a major part of Chapter 4 already finished, Chapter 5’s development is taking longer than usual. Consequently, FOX has decided to release Chapters 3 and 4 together before the game becomes officially purchasable.

This decision contradicts Fox’s initial plan (revealed in 2021) to release Chapters 3, 4 and 5 together. He stated that the finish line for Chapter 5 is still quite far and that releasing all chapters together would mean a long wait, which is not preferable for anyone, including Fox himself.

In an attempt to accelerate the game development process for future chapters, Fox has hired a new producer to aid in the efforts. This comes after Fox previously admitted in 2020 that Deltarune was significantly harder to develop as compared to his previous venture, Undertale, due to the increased complexity of new systems, plotlines, and graphics.
