Surgent Studios, the developer behind Tales of Kenzera: Zau, has announced a series of layoffs affecting just over a dozen employees. As shared via a statement on X/Twitter, the studio acknowledged the difficult times faced by the gaming industry and expressed immense pride in their team's accomplishments. Released in April 2024, Tales of Kenzera received positive feedback for its heartfelt narrative despite not being revolutionary in the Metroidvania genre. Abubakar Salim, the studio's founder, also expressed his sadness and support for the affected employees searching for new opportunities.
