Take-Two CEO Warns: Long-Term Actor Strike Could Backfire

Aug 08, 2024 9:16 PM

Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has commented on the ongoing voice actor strike in the gaming industry, noting that while there is no immediate business impact expected, a prolonged strike could be detrimental. The strike is centered around demands for protections regarding the use of artificial intelligence in creating digital replicas of actors. The union, SAG-AFTRA, seeks to ensure that actors are informed and compensated for the use of generative AI, and so far, agreements have been reached on 24 of the 25 proposals. Take-Two continues to anticipate the release of GTA 6 in Fall 2025 without current disruption, despite high sales for both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Will the voice actor strike affect the release of GTA 6?

No short-term impact on GTA 6 is anticipated due to the ongoing voice actor strike, as much of the work for upcoming projects is reportedly already complete.

The Grand Theft Auto series, developed by Rockstar Games, is one of the most commercially successful franchises in video game history, with its previous installment, GTA V, selling over 200 million copies worldwide. Anticipation for GTA 6 remains high, with fans eagerly awaiting its expected arrival in Fall 2025, promising new advancements in gameplay and storytelling.
