Studio Behind Stunning ARPG Returns with Diablo-Tarkov Hybrid

Jan 15, 2025 1:02 PM

Wolcen Studio, the creators of the popular ARPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, is back with an exciting new title called Project Pantheon. This game blends the classic hack-and-slash gameplay akin to Diablo with the extraction mechanics reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov. Players will engage in PvEvP combat, battling both AI foes and other players to secure valuable loot. Project Pantheon is positioned as a free-to-play live service game featuring large, diverse maps and a player-driven economy for trading resources. Anticipation is building as alpha tests are scheduled, with the European test on January 25-26 and the North American test on February 1-2.

What is Project Pantheon and how does it differ from other ARPGs?

Project Pantheon is a new action RPG from Wolcen Studio that combines traditional hack-and-slash gameplay with extraction elements from shooter games like Escape from Tarkov. Players will be engaged in PvEvP scenarios, where they collect loot while fighting off AI enemies and rival players, creating a unique twist on the typical ARPG experience.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, the studio's previous game, gained attention for its ambitious goals and the lengthy early access development phase it underwent. Released in 2020, it quickly became one of Steam’s biggest launches, although it faced criticism post-launch due to various updates. With Project Pantheon, the studio aims to capitalize on its success while expanding gameplay mechanics and engaging players in new ways.
