Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been released for only a week and the game's end credits have confirmed that actors Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk have played unnamed roles in the game. As revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the two actors voice a pair of rival characters wearing cat mascot suits and Spider-Man masks, arguing outside a bodega in a side mission. This information was confirmed by Bryan Intihar, the senior creative director, who also explained that these roles came about because both actors are big fans of the game and they wanted to participate.

Spider-Man 2 has been reviewed as a "fun superhero power trip" though some aspects of the open-world gameplay were criticized. Despite any criticisms, the game immediately became the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in a 24-hour period. Insomniac Games, the developer, had to release a patch after the discovery of an erroneous flag display in the character Miles Morales' apartment.
