Spider-Man 2 gets free New Game Plus update after release

Oct 19, 2023 3:05 PM
Spider-Man 2 on PS5 Set to Receive Complimentary New Game Plus Update Post-Launch

Post-release, a complimentary update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be introduced that includes a New Game Plus feature, announced James Stevenson, director of community and marketing at Insomniac Games. New Game Plus mode typically lets players replay the game with all unlocked moves and powers intact. The ability to replay missions will also be added via an update post-release, although Stevenson couldn't specify the exact timeline. However, he anticipated the update to be rolled out later this year.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released tomorrow on PlayStation 5. Insomniac previously suggested players to download the day one patch immediately as this update enhances the 'golden master version' of Spider-Man 2 on disk. It implements improvements to the game's opening segment and adds other general refinements to the experience, such as additional accessibility options. Main characters in the game, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, can be alternated between the two heroes by players. Both Spider-Men also have new moves and not only Manhattan but also Queens and Brooklyn are explorable in the game.

The game was rewarded with an 8 by Erik Nusselder, who said: "Spider-Man 2 is a textbook sequel. It provides more of everything that worked so well in the previous parts. This results in an incredibly good and smoothly playable game that radiates fun, but Insomniac often makes the safest choices, so the game doesn't often surprise."
