Skull and Bones open beta launches Feb 8

Jan 26, 2024 1:50 PM

Ubisoft has announced that "Skull and Bones," the highly anticipated pirate-themed multiplayer game, will have an open beta running from February 8 to February 11. Players will be able to explore various regions such as the Red Isle, the coast of Africa, and the open sea while interacting with in-game factions either peacefully or aggressively. The beta, accessible on PC via Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, will allow progress carryover to the main game releasing on February 16. Special edition buyers can start playing three days earlier.

During the open beta, gamers will have the opportunity to complete all campaign contracts up to the mission 'Exterminate the Rat' and unlock special rewards. Ubisoft ensures a seamless experience across different platforms by implementing cross-play and cross-progression features. Additionally, a new trailer was released, shedding light on what players can expect during the game's first year, including endgame content and battles against legendary pirates. System requirements for the PC version were also disclosed.

Originally announced in 2017, "Skull and Bones" has seen multiple delays. The game focuses on building a fearsome reputation and a formidable ship, emphasizing multiplayer gameplay and oceanic exploration within a pirate setting.

When does the open beta for Skull and Bones start, and when will the game be officially released?

The open beta for Skull and Bones starts on February 8 and will last until February 11, and the official game release is set for February 16.

"Skull and Bones" is developed and published by Ubisoft, known for its expertise in creating immersive open-world experiences. Ubisoft has a long history of developing successful franchises like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's series. The pirate theme of "Skull and Bones" resembles that of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which was also a game about naval exploration and combat. However, "Skull and Bones" further expands on the concept, focusing solely on the pirate experience with multiplayer aspects and strategic ship combat at its core.
