SKATE UNLEASHES CUSTOMIZATION, COSMETICS, AND CURRENCIES, FEATURING VANS OLD SKOOLS

May 02, 2024 5:15 PM

The highly anticipated Skate reboot, known to fans as Skate 4, has unveiled character customization features and an array of cosmetic options in its recent presentation. This latest addition to the Skate series, which marks the first release in nearly 15 years, includes a collaboration with various popular brands including Vans, Chocolate, Girl, and Dime. Particular emphasis was placed on the inclusion of Vans Old Skools, which fans can utilize in their character's wardrobe. Full Circle, the developers behind Skate 4, discussed the balance of realism and stylized art within the game's design, aiming to create an immersive yet aesthetic experience.

With a character creator offering more body types and heights than earlier iterations of the game, players will delve into customizing their avatars with both in-house designed items and branded gear. While the content shown was in pre-pre-alpha stage, the commitment towards realistic and playable fashion stands out. Full Circle also addressed the in-game economic model, clarifying that there will be earned and premium currencies without paid loot boxes, ensuring players feel valued whether or not they choose to spend real money.

Post-launch plans include adding new clothing styles, branded events, and gameplay opportunities. For those eager to be part of the Skate experience early on, signing up as a Skate Insider may grant access to future console playtesting sessions slated for later this year. The game, however, has not been given an official release date yet.

What character customization options will be available in Skate 4?

In Skate 4, players will have access to a comprehensive character creator with a variety of heights, body types, and an extensive wardrobe that includes both in-game and real-world brands like Vans, Chocolate, Girl, and Dime. Customization extends to shirts, pants, headwear, eyewear, footwear, and socks.

Skate, originally released in 2007, was widely praised for its innovative control system called the Flickit control, which used the console's analog sticks to perform tricks, providing a much more intuitive and realistic skateboarding experience compared to traditional button-mashing mechanics. The game became a cult favorite and spawned several sequels, with Skate 3 being the most recent main entry released in 2010. Fans have eagerly awaited the next iteration and Skate 4 represents a much-anticipated return to the beloved franchise.
