Rogue Company Cuts Dr Disrespect, Gives Rogue Bucks Not Refunds

Jul 08, 2024 10:32 AM

Hi-Rez Studios has removed all Dr Disrespect content from Rogue Company due to allegations involving inappropriate messages sent to a minor. The streamer, known as Guy Beahm, admitted to exchanging messages in 2017 that were "sometimes inappropriate." Since the revelation, multiple partners and sponsors, including Turtle Beach and 2K, have severed ties with him. Hi-Rez Studios, the publisher of Rogue Company, which also operates games like Smite and Paladins, followed suit by disabling Beahm-designed content in their game and offering Rogue Buck refunds instead of real money to affected players.

Why did Hi-Rez Studios remove Dr Disrespect content from Rogue Company?n

Hi-Rez Studios removed Dr Disrespect content from Rogue Company following allegations that Dr Disrespect (Guy Beahm) sent sexually explicit messages to a minor.

Rogue Company, developed by First Watch Games and published by Hi-Rez Studios, is a free-to-play third-person tactical shooter. Released in 2020, the game initially peaked with over 12,000 concurrent players on Steam but has since seen a sharp decline. This decision to offer in-game currency refunds instead of real money has led to backlash from the player community, especially considering the game's dwindling interest and lack of substantial updates since 2023.
