PUBG Creator Reveals Ambitious 3-Game Plan and Free Tech Demo

Dec 05, 2024 9:00 PM

Brendan Greene, the creator of PUBG, has unveiled his new game plans after three years of silence. His studio, PlayerUnknown Productions, is developing three games, with the first one being Prologue: Go Wayback!, a single-player open-world survival game. The game will utilize machine learning-driven terrain generation technology, which allows for the instant creation of millions of maps. Greene has also released a free tech demo called Preface: Undiscovered World, showcasing the team's in-house engine, Melba. This demo offers players an early glimpse of the technology that will underlie upcoming projects, including the large-scale multiplayer Project Artemis. The Early Access launch for Prologue is expected in the second quarter of 2025, and Greene has expressed the need for player feedback to enhance development.

What is Prologue: Go Wayback! and when will it be available?

Prologue: Go Wayback! is a single-player open-world survival game developed by PlayerUnknown Productions, expected to enter Early Access between April and June of 2025.

Brendan Greene, also known as PlayerUnknown, is celebrated for pioneering the battle royale genre with the release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in 2017. He has since transitioned from working with Krafton on PUBG to independently developing new gaming experiences through PlayerUnknown Productions. Greene's new projects aim to explore innovative gameplay mechanics and expansive, immersive worlds.
