Hideki Kamiya, the co-founder of PlatinumGames and the creative force behind games such as Bayonetta, is set to depart the studio next month. PlatinumGames made the announcement on Twitter, expressing gratitude for Kamiya's substantial contributions to the company's growth since its inception. While no specific reason was cited for his departure, Kamiya reassured fans on Twitter that the decision, though not an easy one, aligns with his personal beliefs. He also vowed to continue creating in his usual style.

However, with his departure, questions arise regarding the fate of one of PlatinumGames’ upcoming projects, 'Project G.G.,' of which Kamiya was supposed to be the director. This project was meant to round off his trilogy of hero games, which started with Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101.

Kamiya, besides his major role at PlatinumGames, is renowned in the gaming industry with past experience at Capcom where he worked on the original Resident Evil as a system planner and directed titles like Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry. He also worked on Okami at Clover Studio.
