The recent release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on PC has been met with mixed reviews, as the highly anticipated collection exhibits numerous issues. The PC version is now on high alert after reported problems with its Nintendo Switch version, it appears the PC version has the most complaints.

The problems span a wide range, with Redditor 1Ocelot pointing out that the games Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 were locked to a 720p internal resolution, despite Konami's claims of them being able to output at 1080p. There has been an attempt to get MGS2 to run at 4K but complications have arisen.

Another issue lies in the lack of display settings, with games defaulting to fullscreen. There are no borderless or window options, and changing resolution seems impossible. Users have shared their disapproval, expressing that the current settings make it hard to play games on monitors with resolutions higher than 1920 x 1080.

Steam user Howard Heyman's review reflects the general sentiment, criticising the release for being "absolutely poor and not worth its asking price in any capacity". He cited several absent features such as the inability to switch between windowed and full-screen, change audio settings, alter the size or aspect ratio of the screen, or return to the menu while in-game, among others.

Other issues include the unexpected requirement for a controller to play Metal Gear Solid 1 (keyboard and mouse are unsupported), and the game being locked to 30 frames per second, which has sparked further criticism.

Last week, Konami had acknowledged certain problems with the collection and assured users they would be addressed in post-launch updates. The company specifically highlighted an issue with Metal Gear Solid 2 that caused significant slowdown in some cutscenes, promising a patch to reduce the processing load.
