Path of Exile 2 Devs Nerf Skills Early: Here's Why

Dec 09, 2024 2:41 PM

Path of Exile 2, the action RPG sequel from Grinding Gear Games, has quickly gained significant player traction following its Early Access launch on December 6. However, it didn't take long for the developer to identify balance issues, particularly with certain skills. Notably, "Supercharged Slam" was deemed excessively powerful, leading to immediate nerfs to its damage output and charge build-up speed. Following this, other skills like "Magnetic Salvo" and Gas Cloud explosion mechanics also faced adjustments. The developers aim to maintain the game’s balance early on to ensure a varied and enjoyable gameplay experience for all players.

What changes have been made to skills in Path of Exile 2?

Grinding Gear Games has implemented nerfs to several skills, including Supercharged Slam and Magnetic Salvo, due to balance issues identified post-launch. These changes involve reductions in damage and adjustments to how quickly players can build charges for these skills.

Path of Exile 2 takes players back to Wraeclast years after the original game, offering six character classes and co-op gameplay for up to six players. Its launch was marred by server issues due to the influx of players, but GGG has been actively addressing these challenges while gathering feedback for future updates. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
