Paradox has officially canceled the much-anticipated life-simulation game, Life by You, just weeks after stating it was "ready for early access." After experiencing three delays, the Sims competitor was unable to meet expectations. Originally scheduled for a June 4 launch, the game was repeatedly pushed back before Paradox decided to scrap it altogether. Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester cited the game’s inability to meet company standards as the reason for cancellation, and hinted at internal issues impacting other titles from Paradox Interactive.

The cancellation raises concerns about the future of Paradox Tectonic, the studio behind Life by You, and other forthcoming titles like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which has seen multiple delays as well. This development leaves fans uncertain about the future direction of Paradox Interactive and their upcoming projects.

Why was Life by You canceled?

Life by You was canceled because it was unable to meet Paradox Interactive's expectations despite nearing an early access launch. The company decided that bringing the game up to their standards would require too much additional development time and resources.

Life by You aimed to be a serious competitor to The Sims franchise, led by Rod Humble, a former producer of The Sims 2 and 3. The game's development journey was turbulent, with multiple delays casting doubt on its release. Paradox Interactive’s recent struggles, exemplified by the problematic launch of Cities: Skylines 2, likely influenced the decision to cancel Life by You after determining it could not compete at the desired level.
