Overwatch Classic: Original 21 Heroes Return for Limited Time

Nov 11, 2024 7:43 PM

Overwatch 2 is set to launch a nostalgic event called Overwatch Classic where players can enjoy the original 21 heroes and 12 maps from the game’s 2016 release for three weeks. Starting on November 12 and running until December 2, this mode allows gamers to play without character restrictions, reminiscent of the initial gameplay experience. Blizzard intends to recreate key historical moments from Overwatch's past, including the original game mechanics and faster Ultimate charges, though some maps will retain Overwatch 2’s modifications. Players are excited about this throwback mode, with many hoping it will become a permanent fixture in the game.

What features will Overwatch Classic include?

Overwatch Classic will include the original 21 heroes, 12 maps, no character limits, and gameplay mechanics similar to the original Overwatch, such as quicker Ultimate charge times. It will not feature legacy elements like loot boxes or the original UI.

Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Blizzard Entertainment, known for its vibrant characters and engaging gameplay. Originally released in 2016, it rapidly gained a massive following and inspired a professional esports league, the Overwatch League. Overwatch 2, the sequel, introduces new gameplay elements while retaining the charm of its predecessor, making nostalgic events like Overwatch Classic a celebration for long-time fans.
