Original Resident Evil Returning to PC

Jun 18, 2024 11:30 AM

Capcom may be planning to re-release the original Resident Evil on PC, as a PEGI rating has been spotted, potentially indicating a Steam launch. The original game, which debuted in 1996 and was followed by a Director’s Cut in 1997, has not been available on modern PC storefronts. Speculation suggests it could be part of a Resident Evil Classics Trilogy, amidst Capcom's successful remakes of other titles in the franchise and upcoming projects like Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica remakes, along with Resident Evil 9.

Is the original Resident Evil coming to Steam?

Yes, a rating from PEGI suggests that the original Resident Evil may soon be released on Steam, although Capcom has not made an official announcement yet.

The original Resident Evil, first released in 1996, had a monumental impact on the survival horror genre. It introduced players to the infamous Spencer Mansion and the dread-inducing encounters with zombies and other creatures. Over the years, the series evolved with numerous sequels and remakes, establishing itself as a cornerstone in the gaming world and a flagship franchise for Capcom.
