nintendo switch finally gets joy-con charging stand

Jul 18, 2024 11:29 AM

Nintendo has unveiled a new official Joy-Con charging stand for the Nintendo Switch, marking its arrival over seven and a half years post the console's release. This Joy-Con Charging Stand (Two-Way) allows gamers to charge two Joy-Cons simultaneously without attaching them to the Switch itself. This accessory, launching on October 17, 2024, is also compatible with the Nintendo Entertainment System controllers, providing functionality for both peripherals. The charging stand operates by attaching Joy-Cons to either side, similar to the grip accessory but sans the grip, and charges via a USB-C cable. Nintendo’s announcement comes amid the Switch setting a record as the longest-running Nintendo home console without a successor, with a bevy of new titles set to release soon, indicating that a Switch successor is still some time away.

When will the Nintendo Switch 2 be released?

Nintendo has indicated that the next generation hardware, often speculated to be the Nintendo Switch 2, won’t arrive until at least April 2025.

The Nintendo Switch has been breaking records since its launch on March 3, 2017. With its unique hybrid design, allowing for both handheld and docked play, it has revolutionized how gamers interact with their consoles. Noteworthy titles like "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," "Super Mario Odyssey," and "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" have further cemented its legacy. Given the announcements of upcoming titles such as "The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom" and "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond," the Switch continues to be a pivotal player in the gaming world.
