New film from studio behind Crunchyroll's saddest anime

The creators of the emotionally powerful anime Anohana have reunited for a new film titled Fureru. This latest project from the Super Peace Busters team, consisting of writer Mari Okada, director Tatsuyuki Nagai, and artist Masayoshi Tanaka, is set in Tokyo's Shinjuku area. It follows the lives of three childhood friends who encounter a magical, hedgehog-like creature, which leads them to explore their bonds. The film's release date is confirmed for October 4, 2024, in Japanese cinemas, and the trailer features the theme song "Monotone" by Yoasobi, known for Oshi No Ko's popular opening song "Idol."
