MORTAL KOMBAT 1 TO GET CROSSPLAY NEXT WEEK

Feb 24, 2024 1:45 AM

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to receive a major update that will introduce crossplay capabilities across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. NetherRealm Studios, the game's developers, confirmed that this feature will aid in uniting players between different platforms, enabling them to compete against each other regardless of the system they own. The update is also expected to bring the character Peacemaker, portrayed by John Cena, to the game through the early access on February 28 for Kombat Pack owners. The Kombat Pack will also be included with the Premium Edition and the Kollector's Edition of the game. Adding to the roster will be Peacemaker's sidekick Eagly and the new Kameo Fighter Janet Cage, an alternate reality version of Johnny Cage, who will be available for players later in March. The full details of the crossplay feature are set to be released early next week.

What does crossplay mean for Mortal Kombat 1 and its players?

Crossplay in Mortal Kombat 1 means that players on different gaming platforms such as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S will be able to compete against each other in online matches, creating a more unified and expansive player base.

Mortal Kombat is a long-established franchise known for its brutal combat, unique characters, and a vast fanbase. Since its inception in 1992, Mortal Kombat has been a trendsetter in the fighting game genre with its emphasis on over-the-top finishers known as Fatalities. The franchise has evolved through many iterations, introducing new characters and storylines, and Mortal Kombat 1 indicates yet another step in its evolution with the addition of cross-play, further enhancing its competitive scene by enabling more players to fight against each other, regardless of the platform.
