"Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two" Release Date Delayed Amid Actor's Strike

The release date for "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two" has been postponed from June 2024 to May 23, 2025 due to the persistent actor's strike. This eighth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise will continue the narrative left by the latest film and, as with the rest of the franchise, presumably feature Tom Cruise performing a series of life-threatening stunts.

Despite underperforming and generating a loss of around $40 million for Paramount in 2023, "Dead Reckoning" garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences, even earning the title as one of 2023's highest-rated films. In our review, we stated that if all franchise entries were as fun and finely polished as "Dead Reckoning," the theatrical-versus-streaming controversy would quickly dissipate.

Dead Reckoning Part Two's delay follows other high-profile movie delays due to the ongoing actor's strike, including "Dune: Part 2," "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse," nearly all of Disney's slated movies, and "Deadpool 3," which is also expected to face delays as cast and crew await the resumption of production.

SAG-AFTRA is anticipated to recommence conversations with Hollywood studios this week, but a resolution appears distant even though the writer's strike ended last month.
