Midnight Society, Studio by Dr Disrespect, Shuts Down Game

Jan 30, 2025 11:44 PM

Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by popular streamer Dr Disrespect, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its first-person shooter game, Deadrop. After three years of operation, the studio declared its shut-down via a post on X, revealing that it is seeking new employment opportunities for its team of 55 developers. Initially targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop was intended to be a free-to-play FPS that would leverage the team's extensive experience in the gaming industry. However, production faltered following the studio's split with Dr Disrespect over controversies related to inappropriate messaging. The game, set in a fictional universe reminiscent of the 80s, featured PvPvE gameplay with unique character designs influenced by iconic music artists.

What happened to Deadrop and Midnight Society?

Midnight Society has closed down and canceled the development of its FPS game Deadrop due to internal controversies and subsequent challenges in the gaming industry, leading to the studio's inability to meet its planned release timeline.

Deadrop was designed as a PvPvE extraction shooter set in a vibrant universe that was inspired by the aesthetics of the 1980s. It was expected to attract players with its distinctive art style and engaging gameplay, but the studio's unfortunate closure has left fans disappointed and seeking alternatives in a challenging gaming landscape.
