Capcom's President, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, expressed in an interview with Bloomberg that the company is not planning to accept any acquisition offer from Microsoft. Tsujimoto stated that they prefer a partnership of equals and expressed a commitment to organic growth rather than acquisition of outside companies.
Currently, Capcom is experiencing significant success with its stocks reaching an all-time high, following successful launches of several AAA titles, including Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter World.
Despite the prevalent trend of acquisitions in the gaming industry, Tsujimoto emphasized Capcom's focus on nurturing in-house human resources for strategic growth. Further, while PC is Capcom's primary platform, the company aims to achieve its goal of selling 100 million copies this year with contributions from AAA-titles on smartphones.
Tsujimoto concluded the discussion stating that he believes digital entertainment, specifically games, will be pivotal for Japan to stay ahead globally.
