Metal Gear Producer Dreams of Teaming Up with Kojima Again

Jun 28, 2024 3:54 PM

Konami's Metal Gear series producer, Noriaki Okamura, has expressed his desire to work again with the legendary game developer Hideo Kojima, who left Konami nine years ago. Although Kojima's return to the Metal Gear series is extremely unlikely given his high-profile exit and new projects with Kojima Productions, Okamura remains hopeful for a reunion. The upcoming Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater remake, internally led by Konami's team, aims to stay true to the original without recording new voice lines, showcasing changes through the Delta symbol.

nWill Hideo Kojima return to work on Metal Gear Solid? n

It's highly unlikely that Hideo Kojima will return to work on Metal Gear Solid due to his new projects with Kojima Productions and his notable exit from Konami.

Hideo Kojima, after leaving Konami in 2015, established his studio, Kojima Productions. He released the critically acclaimed game Death Stranding in 2019 and is currently working on a sequel. Additionally, a movie adaptation of Death Stranding is reportedly in the works, highlighting Kojima's continued influence in the gaming and entertainment industry.

It's interesting to see Noriaki Okamura's yearning for a Kojima reunion, but let's be real—Kojima's got his hands full with Death Stranding sequels and a movie adaptation. Props to Konami for pushing forward with the Metal Gear Solid Δ remake; I hope it does justice to the classic without the iconic Kojima touch.

Seeing Konami's Metal Gear producer hopeful for a Kojima reunion is a bittersweet reminder of what could have been. While it's great to see the series getting some love with the Snake Eater remake, Kojima's new projects prove he's still a major creative force in the industry.

While Okamura's optimism for a Kojima reunion is heartwarming, it feels more like a nostalgic wish than a realistic expectation given Kojima's thriving independent career. The decision to keep the original voice lines for the Snake Eater remake is a nice touch, staying true to what fans loved about the original.
