Zac Efron has expressed his sense of honor at the prospect of playing Matthew Perry in a potential biopic, according to statements he made during the red carpet premiere of his new film The Iron Claw. Perry previously revealed his desire to have Efron portray him, particularly due to their work together on the film 17 Again, where Efron played a younger version of Perry's character.

Athenna Crosby, a friend of Perry's, mentioned that before his passing, Perry was considering a film about his life and thought Efron would be the perfect candidate to represent his younger self. Reflecting on his past experiences with Perry, Efron appreciated the late actor's mentorship and the comedic skills he learned from him.

Matthew Perry, who recently passed away at the age of 54, is fondly remembered for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on Friends, amongst other contributions to television and film.
