Konami is preparing to introduce the long-awaited feature of pausing cutscenes in the original three Metal Gear Solid games. This feature will be part of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, slated to launch on October 24. However, there's a curious quirk: the pause menu does not appear instantly, but rather with a 10-second delay. According to MP1st, YouTuber Irriducibile 86ss managed to access an early copy of the game and showcased this functionality during a live stream. It is currently unclear whether this delay is intentional or a bug that might be rectified by a day-one update.

Players of the Metal Gear Solid series have been lobbying for such a feature to be added, especially given its absence in remastered versions of the games on PlayStation 3 and 4. The fourth installment, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, was the first to incorporate this feature, thereby setting a reasonable precedent for its inclusion in the Master Collection. The games in this collection, notably Metal Gear 1 and 2, and Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 are notorious for their lengthy cutscenes, although Metal Gear Solid 4 notably holds the title for the longest videogame cutscene at 71 minutes.

The Metal gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC, also curiously reserves Metal Gear Solid 1 to a maximum frame rate of 30.
