News about the second season of Loki and its suspected X-Men references has been addressed by director Dan DeLeeuw, the helmsman for the season's second episode. Contrary to fan theories, DeLeeuw has stated that these Easter eggs were not planned as part of the storyline. These roundabout references included similarities between the doorway to the Temporal Loom and the entrance to Cerebro in X-Men, a resemblance fans hoped hinted at a connection with the mutant team. However, ScreenRant confirmed that these allusions were unintentional.
"That's the art department, Kasra [Farahani, the director of the third episode], our production designer, is a genius with all the sets," said DeLeeuw. Despite fan excitement and conclusions, he admitted, "It wasn't really planned." He likened these incidental Easter eggs to a book interpretation discussed by a humanities professor from his university years: "It's like, 'Okay, I don't think that was the intention, but, if they wanted it to be there, sure.'"
Further X-Men hints supposedly spotted in the show include an episode where Loki and Mobius head to 1977 London to find Hunter X-05, alias Brad Wolfe, better known to Marvel comic fans as Zaniac. A graffiti message reading "All M are brothers" fueled more theories about the mutants.
These conjectures became especially rife after the announcement of a reported X-Men movie in its early stages of development at Marvel Studios. Nonetheless, it appears these visual nods are simply playful elements for the audience to enjoy. For further revelations, fans are advised to stay tuned until the season finale on November 9.
