Renowned leak source, billbil-kun of Dealabs, has revealed two of the three headline titles set to debut as part of the PlayStation Plus Essential lineup for October 2023. According to billbil-kun, The Callisto Protocol and Farming Simulator 22 are among the upcoming releases; the third title has yet to be announced.
The Callisto Protocol is seen as the spiritual successor to the celebrated sci-fi horror classic, Dead Space. Despite earning positive reviews from reviewers, such as IGN, who rated it 7/10, the game has faced a myriad of difficulties, including technological issues, reports of studio crunch, and crediting conflicts. On the back of mixed reviews, Striking Distance Studios, its developer, had to lay off 32 employees to realign its priorities, while the co-creator of Dead Space and director of The Callisto Protocol, Glen Schofield, departed the company. The game also fell short of meeting the sales expectations laid out by its parent company, Krafton.
On the other hand, Farming Simulator 22, which allows players to build an agricultural empire within a new Central European map, Zielonka, plans to release its second significant expansion in November 2023.
Sony, the gaming console's manufacturer, has yet to officially announce the upcoming additions to its PlayStation Plus Essential lineup. This announcement is expected soon.
