The upcoming cRPG Broken Roads, often referred to as Australia's answer to classic Fallout games, has been delayed just as it was nearing its release date. Initially scheduled for a November 13 release, Australian indie developer Drop Bear Bytes has pushed the date to early 2024 for additional polishing. Despite being content complete, with about 30 hours of gameplay and almost 400,000 words of dialogue, the game requires thorough testing to ensure quality, hence the last-minute delay decision. This has affected all planned platforms, including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Review copies had already been distributed before the announcement, and the team at Drop Bear Bytes has clarified that the extra time will be used to support quality assurance teams in bug fixing. Impressively, the game seemed set for launch with its Steam page still showing the earlier release date at the time of the announcement. The developer has committed to simultaneously releasing all versions of the game and improving the overall experience for players across all platforms.
