NetherRealm Studios has released a new patch for the fighting game Mortal Kombat 1, introducing significant changes to gameplay based on player feedback.
One of the notable updates is the nerf to Cyrax’s notably powerful move, the Horizontal Kopter Chopper Kameo assist, adjusting its dominance in the game. The maneuver is now more costly, limiting its frequency and altering the prevailing meta of the game.
Moreover, the patch has introduced tagging moves, which are set to make the training process more efficient for players. Other changes include lessening Baraka's damage, and adding a Halloween theme to Johnny Cage’s mansion stage.
There seems to be player speculation about a Fatality being made available for sale in Mortal Kombat 1, sparking a vigorous debate regarding the game's monetisation strategy. However, this has not been confirmed.
It's important to note that the patch, weighing 8.5GB on PlayStation 5, has been released for consoles but no update has been shared for the Nintendo Switch version. This version has been criticized by players for performance issues and subpar visuals.
The fully detailed patch notes are still pending from NetherRealm, however the in-game notes mention additions like a Fatality for the Premium Store, and several fixes ranging from ping/connection indicators to general gameplay bugs.
Players are encouraged to continue exploring the patch's changes, contributing to the understanding of its overall impact on the gameplay of Mortal Kombat 1.
