Mar 21, 2024 7:21 PM

Larian Studios, the developer known for their Game of the Year-winning RPG Baldur's Gate 3, just announced at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) that they are not planning any expansions or DLC for Baldur's Gate 3, nor a sequel to the game. However, the founder Swen Vincke highlighted that the game itself is brimming with content. Notably, the game's dialogue and narration options have three times the word count of the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy and double the total runtime of cutscenes compared to HBO's Game of Thrones series. This hefty amount of content—approximately 1,365,000 words and over 140 hours of cutscenes—promises a rich and extensive experience that could keep players engaged for years. Insights were also shared about early game versions, including a Tiefling version of the character Astarion.

How much content does Baldur’s Gate 3 offer in terms of dialogue and cutscenes?

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a staggering amount of content with roughly 1,365,000 words in dialogue and narration, and more than 140 hours of cutscenes, which is more than enough to provide a deep and immersive gaming experience for players.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a highly ambitious role-playing game developed by Larian Studios, known for their other critically acclaimed title, Divinity: Original Sin 2. Set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, Baldur's Gate 3 is the third installment in the Baldur's Gate series, which began in 1998. The game has received widespread praise for its depth, storytelling, and adherence to D&D mechanics, raising the bar for the CRPG (computer role-playing game) genre. With an intricate narrative and player choices that significantly impact the game world, Baldur's Gate 3 offers a rich fantasy experience for both fans of the series and newcomers to the genre.
