Kit Harington Reveals Why He's Skipping House of the Dragon

Aug 07, 2024 6:42 PM

Kit Harington, famous for his role as Jon Snow in HBO's Game of Thrones, recently stated he will not be watching the prequel, House of the Dragon. In an interview, he expressed that he has spent too much time in Westeros and does not feel inclined to revisit the series anytime soon. Harington shared that he wishes the cast and crew of House of the Dragon well, acknowledging its success, despite deciding against watching it or rewatching Game of Thrones for the next few years. This sentiment is echoed by fellow actress Emilia Clarke, who feels similar about the prequel's experience. House of the Dragon, which premiered in August 2022, has garnered a dedicated fanbase, and a third season has been confirmed following its successful second season.

Why doesn’t Kit Harington want to watch House of the Dragon?

Kit Harington feels he has spent too long in the Game of Thrones universe and doesn’t have the desire to watch House of the Dragon or revisit Game of Thrones for a few years.

House of the Dragon is a prequel to the immensely popular Game of Thrones, set 200 years before the original series, and focuses on the Targaryen lineage and their civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons. Following the large-scale success of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has been praised for its world-building and complex characters, which has made it a noteworthy addition to the franchise. The show continues to expand on George R.R. Martin's epic universe, with a strong following eagerly anticipating future seasons.
