Kick-Ass 3 joins unreleased film trio - perplexed

Jan 24, 2024 4:48 PM

Fans of dark superhero cinema can anticipate a fresh direction for the Kick-Ass franchise as Matthew Vaughn, director of the original film and its sequel, indicates a reboot that will also serve as the third installment in a newly conceived trilogy. The upcoming trilogy will kick off with "School Fight," followed by a yet-to-be-named project codenamed "Vram," and culminate in the Kick-Ass reboot. Despite the fact that production on the Kick-Ass reboot has not yet begun, Vaughn has revealed that the script is halfway complete and aims to offer a new, meta take on the R-rated superhero genre that Kick-Ass originally popularized. In an increasingly saturated market with shows like "The Boys" and "Invincible," the reboot aims to stand out with its unique approach. Meanwhile, Vaughn's fans can look forward to another one of his projects, "Argylle," releasing on February 2.

When will the Kick-Ass reboot be released?

There is currently no official release date for the Kick-Ass reboot film. The project is still in the script-writing phase and more details are expected to be revealed in the future.

The Kick-Ass movies, directed by Matthew Vaughn, are known for their irreverent and gritty take on the superhero genre. The original "Kick-Ass," released in 2010, was noteworthy for its R-rated content, dark humor, and the subversion of traditional superhero tropes. It garnered a cult following and was followed by a sequel in 2013. The films were based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. Now, with a reboot on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how Vaughn reimagines the franchise in a new, meta context against the backdrop of an evolving landscape of adult-oriented superhero content.
